Choosing A Bird Bath

A carefully planned garden can be an absolute delight to man and beast alike and depending on the size you can plan in an amazing amount of mini habitats that attract different kinds of visitors from insect to birds.

Having features in the garden can also help it beauty although these do not necessarily have to be natural. A good mix of sympathetic hard landscaping and features can really bring a garden together.

One particular favorite for many has to be the trusty waterfall, which can be found in an amazing variety of styles and also come in all shapes and sizes.

My personal favourite however has to be a nice bird bath as they can draw a number of different species into you garden space.

I don’t think that there is any one style that is better so it will depend on your taste and the aspect of your garden. Popular choices though are stone, and copper, which takes on a beautiful green patina as the years go by.

This bird bath could also be just a small affair that hangs from a tree branch, designed for the smallest and lightest of our feathered friends.

Attract Wildlife With Careful Planting

As a hobby gardening can bring a great deal of delight and satisfaction from a personal perspective as well adding value to you home.

Gardening is not restricted to the older generation though and many youngsters are getting the bug due to the satisfaction of seeing a plant bloom and grow over time.

One of the beautiful things about this delightful hobby is that by careful planting you can attract all sorts of wildlife into your garden that would otherwise never visit.

A typical example of this is the humble butterfly.

Butterflies are attracted to many different types of foliage, but a butterfly bush is their most sacred utopian plant. A butterfly bush will draw butterflies like an ice cream cone dropped on cement in the summer and left to melt in the sun will attract ants.

A word to the wise though, try and pick a bush that will attract butterflies that are native to your region for maximum effect.
