Bath Vanities - Choose Modernistic Or Traditional

Go look for modern bathroom vanities and you’ll be astounded at some of the attractive and innovative designs on the market today. Looking at vanity sinks, you can find stylish pedestal stone options, natural wood vanities with glass sink bowls, wall mounted sinks and the latest designs in table top sinks with generous storage options below. Recent modern bathroom design trends allow for great diversity in style and color, with something guaranteed to catch your eye if you keep looking.

You can also find all glass options with both table top and sink in glass that lend a special modern elegance to the bathroom unlike any other. Wood is popular, and oak is back in force which has a more calming affect, giving a back-to-nature feel. We especially like wood faucet handles for some reason, offering a warm, gentle touch. Sink chests are also another unique design that some people find extremely attractive and opt for as the centerpiece of the room.

Contemporary bathroom vanities lend a modern look to your bathroom. They can be derivative of the art deco style or perhaps have a European look. Chrome or brushed aluminium could be used as a part of the contemporary look and add a certain brightness to the look of the room. Be innovative. When designing a contemporary bathroom you want to use modern-looking materials such as glass sinks which can add a distinctive appearance to the bathroom. You can also use a stone vessel sink as a part of modern bathroom design.

A more subtle approach in contemporary bathroom vanities are brushed chrome faucets, which is a low key, modest design detail that is still modern and fashionable. Brass faucets can also add a certain, more classic elegance and are an option that some people may prefer. You may want to opt for a pedestal sink if storage space is not top of the list so that you are not in urgent need of more bathroom cabinets. It can be a lovely addition to any bathroom.

If you are in the process of building your bathroom from scratch or remodeling the bathroom of your existing dwelling you have more flexibility when choosing your bath vanities so that they suit not only the overall decor of the house or the bathroom, but also take into consideration the space savings that are so important in bathroom cabinets. Get vanities that are both functional and stylish.

Of course, there’s not just one type of bathroom vanity cabinet. That would really have been boring… To start with, you can find double sink vanities and single sink vanities. When you look for antique bathroom vanities you always need to make sure that they fit in your bathroom. What’s the difference? There is only one sink in a single vanity, and, you got it, two sinks in a double vanity. You may want some other trendy style of vanity like for example Mexican vanities, which seem to be quite popular these days. So what’s typically Mexican bathroom design? Well, Mexican bathroom styles are generally bright and colorful with tiled flooring.

The Secret Shame of The Homes We Live In

I came across a frightening statistic recently – around 40% of homes in the UK, Canada and across the EU are infected with damp and toxic mould.  Anyone who’s moved house recently will probably have come across many properties with damp, stained walls and even growth of mold spores. Most people, however, are not even aware of the issue.  Damp and mould problems are often in hidden corners of your home and many times it resides inside walls where you can’t see it.

Illnesses
Mould arising from damp walls and structures can cause a scary range of health problems. Many times people get hayfever-like symptoms as a result of damp - watery eyes, sneezing and nasal congestion.Far worse is the recent study in the UK which linked damp with causing asthma in children. There have also been cases of serious respiratory illness arising from damp.  Another recent study even revealed a connection between mold and depression

Causes
Want to know how damp and mold get into your house in the first place? To start with, it’s important to state that mould occurs naturally in small amounts and can be sorted out quite simply. However the major problems start when it’s left untreated and allowed to spread.  Mould builds up as a result of too much humidity in the air combined with a lack of proper ventilation for the moisture to escape. The air inside a home becomes naturally humid after things like showers, cooking or tumble drying. But this moisture needs somewhere to go!Poor ventilation could be caused by dodgy workmen who cut corners on damp proofing when building the house.Another cause is when a house lacks proper air vents. And the more we are concerned about saving energy these days, the more we are tending to lock the air - and moisture - into our homes.

Prevention is better than cure
Hopefully by know you’re convinced that mold in the home is something that needs preventative action. And just because you don’t already have damp, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do act now.Left unchecked it becomes a lot harder - and costlier - to deal with.  Here are some top tips on how to avoid damp buildup in your home or workplace:

  1. Dry up any build up of condensation you notice around the house within 24-48 hours. If you take away the moisture, you leave no chance of mold building up in the first place.
  2. Give the moisture in your house an escape route by getting proper ventilation.Investigate whether you can put in better vents, or just make sure you leave a window open during high moisture times.
  3. Think about cold surfaces around the house where condensation may occur, like pipes, roofs, outside walls and windows - and get them insulated.
  4. It’s well worth considering investing in one of the many dehumidifiers out there to remove moisture from the atmosphere.  Certain portable air conditioners also do the job, with the added bonus of keeping you cool in the summer.
  5. Be aware of your legal rights. Most of the time the fault lies with someone else, and they could be held responsible if things get really bad. Get on the phone to your home insurers and find out if they cover damp problems. If you’re renting, get your landlord to hire professional mould inspectors to deal with the problem.

Now Is The Time To Think About Yard Care

Whether you know it or not, winter is just about to draw to a close and the dandelions will be peaking up and starting to ruin your lawn once again. But you can stop it if you make a plan. It’s not as easy as just calling up your local Georgia lawn care.

Chances are if you are like most people, you will wait until the last possible minute to get out and start applying the proper products to make your lawn thick, green and healthy this season. If that is you, then you definitely need the following tips to ensure you don’t make any mistakes along the way.

First off, you need to consider the fertilizer you will apply in your yard care regimen. I never recommend super high nitrogen fertilizers as they do nothing but over-push the growth of the lawn. It is best to find something with a better balance of potassium and phosphorus to help the lawns root structure. It is also a good idea to apply organic fertilizers in the hot summer to avoid burning. You will find that organics also release nutrients slowly, feeding the lawn over time and not all in once quick burst.

Next comes the weed control. You are going to get weeds and you need to kill them. If you don’t, they will spread to your neighbors and that is a bad situation! I never recommend homeowners use products labeled as “weed and feed” as these products offer absolutely no control over where the chemical goes. You don’t want to throw weed control in areas where there are no weeds present.

Just target of spot treat the weeds that pop up using a pump spray gun and concentrated weed killer mixed according to the label directions. This is the best way to do it and won’t ruin the environment either.

Finally come the finishing touches. You will need some sort of insect control and probably a fungus treatment for the later spring. I’d also recommend you get some type of product that contains an iron additive as that will turn your lawn dark blue, giving you the edge you are looking for!

So if you are reading this at the last minute, and you are about to go nuts because the weeds are invading your brown lawn, get out this weekend and get started. You’ll be surprised how fast your lawn will respond.

Buying Gas And Electric Fireplace Sets To Create A Cozy And Warm Room

There’s nothing better than sitting in the living room on a cold evening with the warmth of a burning fire. Due to the size of fireplaces, they can soon become a place for family members to gather and will often be the main focal point of the room.

The cleaning and maintenance needed for real fireplaces is what puts people off using them, which is why alternative heating appliances are popular, such as electric fireplaces. The fact that these fireplaces are often portable, easy to maintain and to install makes them ideal.

In some rooms it is not possible to have a real fireplace, which is where the electric type can be especially useful. There are quite a few well known manufacturers such as Dimplex, Charmglow and Majestic, but there are also many other manufacturers that make some nice electric fireplaces, especially when searching on the internet.

Alternatively, you might choose to go with gas fireplace inserts. Gas fireplaces function on propane or natural gas, but might need an expert to install. This is due to the need for gas fireplaces to be connected to a gas pipe, so you might need to pay extra for installation. Typically, gas fireplaces can cost upwards of $1500, but when compared with building a brick fireplace with chimney, they are still value for money.

It used to be that gas and electric fireplaces were very plastic looking and unappealing, although a vast improvement has been made on releases over recent times. There is a range of materials and styles that are used in the design of fireplaces, meaning it shouldn’t be too hard finding the ideal one to match the decor of your home.

In addition to indoor fireplaces there are of course some great outdoor fireplace designs. Imagine sitting in peace outside at night, with the fire crackling and embers popping.

No matter which type of fireplace you buy, one of the most influential factors in how the fireplace looks in the room are fireplace designs. The surround and hearth is the area you should consider most because it will affect the overall feel of the fireplace. To save money, some people choose not to buy a hearth, but you are losing out on a big focal point if you do.

Check out some of the fireplace designs online for some ideas of which fireplace is most ideal for your home. There is some cheap deals on the internet, allowing you to make a saving too.
